PostgreSQL Weekly News - November 29th 2004
A holiday week lead to a short list of changes for this week, the first full week of beta5. The pgcrypto module will now refuse to build if a suitable random source has not been defined, rather than compile but be unusable. The "\s" command in psql's help is now properly documented on platforms with readline. A recently introduced problem with client_encoding specification and the InitPostgres process was resolved. The tcl regex engine was upgraded to 8.4.8 (from 8.4.1). The documentation for SQL:2003 conformance has been updated. Last, but not least, the pg_dumplo utility was made schema aware.
I also wanted to alert readers to a new poll on www.postgresql.org, regarding mailing list and usenet use. There have been a lot of discussions lately on how best to configure the postgresql mail lists and nntp feeds; your feedback could really help in determining which way to go.
